AUGUST TOPIC: Laughter as Self-Care for Moms with Very Little Time and No Interest in Exercise
Would you believe this one? Of course, you would… you’re an autism mom.
Self-care is all but impossible to fit into our frenzied lifestyles as autism moms. After resenting the suggestion and all but swearing it off, Moriarty has embraced laughter as the best coping strategy for longevity and mental health. Join us for an interactive opportunity to laugh and vent as Moriarty previews her third book — a tell-all of outrageous and true stories from ten autism moms with adult children. These moms have lived to talk about it and learned to laugh about it. That means you can too. In fact, it’s vital for your survival.
GUEST SPEAKER: Andrea Moriarty
Andrea Moriarty is the author of books "One-Track Mind" and "Radical Inclusion” about her experiences as an autism mom. Her latest book is titled “The Laughter Alliance." She cofounded Banding Together and has served on the board of New Village Arts as well as Able Arts Work. Moriarty speaks nationally and leads workshops to share innovative resources, affectionate humor, and hope with parents and educators. She and her husband, Jim, are adoptive parents of grown twins. Allie is a board-certified music therapist and Reid is a musician, podcast host, and the front man in Jungle Poppins band.
