In November 2013, NFAR awarded funding to 73 local educators to help provide the educational tools and materials needed to support the specialized needs of their students with autism.
With the challenges of educating an ever-increasing number of students on the autism spectrum, these awards help fill a gap in funding that is not otherwise available. Thanks to the proceeds of their annual San Diego Race for Autism, NFAR has now awarded nearly 400 educators throughout San Diego.
This year’s Teachers Award recipients are from 15 different school districts and seven non-public schools across the greater San Diego area. Funding will go to serve students on the following school campuses : Chase Avenue Elementary School, McMillin Elementary School, Park Dale Elementary, Olivenhain Pioneer, El Camino Creek/Paul Ecke, Capri Elementary, Mission Estancia Elementary, Santana High School, Viking Academy, Helix Charter High School, El Cajon Valley High School, El Capitan High School, Granite Hills High School, Valhalla High School, Grossmont High School, Oak Grove Middle School, Jamul Primary, Greater San Diego Academy, San Altos Elementary, Campo Elementary School, Alexa's PLAYC, Rady Children's Hospital, Mt. Helix Academy, Sierra Academy, C.A.S.E.
